Most firms divide your best day by your total profit: with a 40% rule, a best day of 2,000 needs at least 5,000 of total profit (2,000 ÷ 0.40). Some older rules, like FTMO's legacy Best Day Rule, divide by the sum of your positive days only, so losing days do not raise the bar. If tomorrow is a new best day, the requirement grows with it: that is why the calculator shows the most you can make in one day and stay within.
